The mission of the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort is to collect, preserve, research, document, and interpret the maritime history, culture and environment of Coastal North Carolina. While the museum remains closed for HVAC replacement, the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center remains open and off-site public programs are ongoing.
